The small train station in Dowagiac, Michigan is big on history—it was built by the Michigan Central Railroad in 1903 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. The station offers daily service to Chicago and Detroit, on the Pere Marquette line, with service between Grand Rapids and Chicago, and on the Wolverine line which travels from Pontiac to Chicago, as well as the Blue Water line with daily service between Port Huron and Chicago.

Approximately 2,900 passengers board and alight at the Dowagiac station, which does not offer a ticket office or help with baggage, but does have an enclosed waiting room with rest rooms.

Station hours are 10am - 1pm, again from 3:45pm - 5:15pm, and again from 7:50pm - 9:20pm, on Monday - Saturday. Sunday hours are 10am - 1pm and again from 7:50pm - 10pm.

Dowagiac, with a population of less than 7,000, is located in close to the Sister Lakes area, a popular summer vacation destination for many Chicago-area residents who have cabins and homes on the various lakes. The town is also home to the Southwestern Michigan College at Dowagiac and Dowagiac Dogwood Fine Arts Festival.
