Located 30 miles east of Pittsburgh, the Greensburg Amtrak Station is located just north of the city center of Greensburg. The station was inaugurated in 1912 by the Pennsylvania Railroad and designed by William Cookman. The station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and continues to receive Amtrak´s Pennsylvanian train once per day, in each direction. 12,882 passengers board and alight at the station each year. There is no ticket office at the station, only a small shelter. There is no help with baggage available and all tickets must be purchased on board. However, the historic station is now home to the Red Star Brewery, which not only produces artisanal beer but also serves as a popular restaurant.

The Westmoreland County Transit Authority, which all local busses pass through as well as serving Greyhound busses, is less than half a mile away from the station. Hotels located close to the Greensburg Amtrak Station include the Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn and Four Points by Sheraton.
