Today, The Amtrak Station Independence, also known as Missouri Pacific Deport, still services a number of customers traveling through town on The Missouri River Runner, operated by Amtrak. The station was initially built by The Missouri Pacific Railroad, with the station itself being named after Harry Truman, former president, since he used the station as the final stop on his campaign tour.

The Amtrak Station Independence offers no ticket office or Quik-Trak ticketing hours, so be sure to buy tickets ahead of time at another station, or through the internet. There is parking available,e and an enclosed waiting area for customers. The station is open 24 hours a day.
