Amtrak Station Kirkwood

Hotels near Amtrak Station Kirkwood, Kirkwood, United States .

One of the three train stations in the overall St. Louis area, The Amtrak Station Kirkwood is located right in the heart of downtown Kirkwood, one of the largest suburbs near St. Louis. The station is unique because it is run entirely by volunteers.

Built in the 1850s by the Pacific Railroad, the station is currently a stop on Amtrak's Missouri River Runner line. The station has been renovated and maintained over the years, and is one of the only examples of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture in downtown Kirkwood. In addition to acting as the current station for the city, the depot itself is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Travelers on their way to Kansas City or St. Louis alike will find that the station is a nice resting place, especially with ridership up by double digits recently. The building includes a waiting room and ticketing, and is open daily.

A number of hotels in the downtown area are just a short walk from the station, including the Best Western Kirkwood Inn, the Eastlake Inn Bed and Breakfast, and the Geyer Inn.
