Two miles north of the Indiana State Line, overlooking the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, the Amtrak Station New Buffalo (NBM) serves almost 3,300 passengers annually. The Station provides rail passengers access to both the Wolverine and Pere Marquette Amtrak Lines, which stretch from Chicago on one end, to Grand Rapids, Michigan, on the other.

The New Buffalo Amtrak Station is scheduled for replacement, with a new station currently under construction approximately one mile west of the current location. The new station, when completed, will service the Blue Water Amtrak Line as well as the Wolverine, providing passengers access to Detroit, Pontiac, and Port Huron, Michigan on the eastern side of the State.

Pending completion of the new station, the Amtrak Station New Buffalo is located at 517 South Whitaker Street in New Buffalo, Michigan, and includes covered waiting areas, but no station building. The replacement station will be located at 225 North Whitaker Street, and utilize a track system that will cut reduce transit time to Chicago by 15 minutes, making it a 60-minute trip.
