With service to and from Boston, Chicago, New York, Lynchburg, Newport News, and St. Albans this station provides passengers with access to extremely popular business and tourist locales. This historic station site was originally constructed in 1926 by the Boston and Albany Railroad, although the main building was condemned in the 1970s after which time Amtrak built a new facility. Featuring a station building and waiting room, the Station is open from 5am-11pm daily, and the ticketing counter from 5am-8pm daily. Visitors travel to Springfield for attractions like the Springfield Armory Museum, the Springfield Symphony Hall, the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden and Zoo In Forest Park.
