The Academic Art Museum or Akademisches Kunstmuseum in Bonn is managed by the city’s university, and situated near the Hofgarten in a big Neoclassical pavilion designed by Schinkel. The small spa town of Bad Godesberg in the suburbs of Bonn has its own charm and uniqueness although it was merged with the bigger city in 1969. Don’t miss the Beethoven Hall in the heart of the city along the Rhine embankment. Classical concerts are held here on a regular basis and there are conferences, music concerts and plays as well. Although it was setup in 1959 it was refurbished in 1997 so it is quite modern inside. It was built in the same place to replace the original Beethoven Hall which was destroyed in World War II.

The Bonn University is the most impressive and the oldest University of Germany. The main part of the university is housed in the former Baroque castle designed by Enrico Zuccale in the 16th century. You cannot tour the inside of the building but the exterior is available for close inspection.
