One of the ten most visited attractions in Alaska, the Anchorage Museum of History and Art, also known as the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center is truly a world-class museum situated in the heart of downtown Anchorage. The Anchorage Museum receives over 20 travelling exhibits from all over the world annually, maintaining a permanent collection numbering over 17,500 objects, an educational collection comprised of approximately 2,000 artifacts, and over 350,000 historical photographs. Since 1992, the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center has also served as the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History Arctic Studies Center. Additionally, the museum features a research division, a wide variety of educational programs for children, students, and adults, numerous social events, membership opportunities, and the highly-regarded Muse restaurant.

The Anchorage Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 9 A.M. until 5 P.M., and Sunday from Noon until 6 P.M. during the winter. During the summer season, the museum is open from 9 A.M until 6 P.M. every day, with extended hours until 9 P.M. every Thursday. Admission is $8 for adults and a recommended donation of $2 for children, with student, senior, and military discounts available. The Anchorage Museum of History and Art is located at 625 C Street, walking distance from Anchorage Town Square, the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, and the famous Kimball Building.
