Antalya Airport (ICAO: LTAI) is located 13 km (8.1 mi) northeast of the city center of Antalya, Turkey. It serves Turkey's primary holiday destination, the country’s Mediterranean coast. The airport is large and modern, built to accommodate the millions of passengers who come to enjoy Turkey's beaches in summer season. It handled nearly 19 million passengers in 2008, more than 16 million of them international and was the 30th busiest airport in the world, in respect to hosting international travelers. The airport has three terminals, two international and one domestic. The opening of Gazipasa Airport, located between Anamur and Alanya and approximately 100 km (62 mi) to the east of Antalya Airport, will help ease traffic. Sixty airlines fly from Antalya to a host of destinations, primarily European. Major carriers include Aeroflot and British Airways. Many hotels dot the nearby Mediterranean shore within easy reach of the airport.
