Aotea Square is a paved public area located In the Auckland CBD, Auckland, New Zealand. It opened in 1979 by Sir Dove-Myer Robinson, used for open-air concerts, gatherings, markets and political rallies.

Currently, the square is under a major redevelopment expected to be finished by October 2010 with the goal of drawing a crowd of 20,000 per event. This involves repairing and strengthening the Civic car park roof, Aotea Square upgrade, and alterations on the Aotea Centre front.

Aotea Square features a number of artworks such as a bronze fountain by a New Zealand sculptor Terry Singer, the “Waharoa” which means gateway in Maori made of wood and copper by Maori sculptor Selwyn Muru, a bronze figure of a Maori warrior by Lyndon Smith, a statue of Sir Dove-Myer Robinson, former mayor of Auckland, and a 19th century bronze statue of George Eden, Lord Auckland, Governor of India which Auckland is named after.

Parking while visiting the area may be done at the Civic Car Park which also provides accessibility to persons with mobility problems.
