Apeldoorn Station is the central station of the Dutch city of Apeldoorn. It was inaugurated on May 15, 1876 with the opening of the route Amersfoort - Apeldoorn - Zutphen, part of the Holland Iron Railway Company (HSM) Eastern Railway. This line, opened between 1874 and 1878, connected Amsterdam via Amersfoort with Zutphen and Winterswijk.
The station of Apeldoorn is not related to any of the standard stations, but does have similarities with stations built in that period. It consists of an upper middle lower section with two short wings. Apeldoorn is one of the largest cities in Netherlands, however, it has had only one station. It has been refurbished and rearranged. The extended roof and the new tunnel opened in May 2007 thus both cyclists and pedestrians could use them to travel between the south and north of Apeldoorn.
The closest airports are: Twente-Enschede, Weeze, Schiphol and Eindhoven located about 70 km away from the station. There is also a public parking in the neighborhood known as Noorderbergpoort Parking. Apenheul, Palace 'T Loo National Museum, the Historical Museum Deventer , Toysmuseum Deventer are only a few of the interesting tourism attractions that visitors can enjoy if passing by this location.
