Denmark's Arbejder Museet which is situated in the country's capital, Copenhagen, was first founded in 1983 by the Work Union and grass roots movements of Denmark.

The museum is a collaboration of artworks and informative exhibitions that detail the working class' struggle for equality and rights during the last 150 years. The museum is aimed at teaching younger generations about the conditions and hardships that many before them have gone through to lead a good and happy life.

Visitors can witness the permanent collections which show the differing aspects of working class life during the past two centuries. To show the Danish class divisions that were prevalent during that time, visitors will see a family enjoying a picnic as well as a 1930's apartment, a replica of that time, which displays a smoking mother near her baby's cradle.

Originally constructed in 1879, the Arbejder Museet was once the former site of the Workers Union headquarters. Many notable dignitaries have walked through the doors of the museum in years gone by such as Lenin Clara Zetkin and Rosa Luxembourg.

An old caf¨¦ and beerhall which focus on serving traditional Danish food and beers are also within the museum illustrating what they looked like during their inception in 1892. For those who want to taste Danish beer, they serve Stjerne Pilsen, which was originally brewed by the worker's brewery and Bryggeriet Stjerne.

Getting to and from the museum is relatively easy. The S-train, Metro and the regional train to North Gate Station are available and run every 10 minutes. Buses include the 5A, 14, 16, 31, 40, 42, 43, 150S, 184 and 350S. Public transport can be expensive in Copenhagen, but there are discounts available. Also tickets are valid on all types of public transport. However, walking is also an option to the museum and is recommended during the nice weather. Depending on where you are staying, the walk can be as little as 15-20 minutes.

Opening hours are daily from 10am - 16:00
Admission: Adults 50kr ($10) Seniors 40r ($8) Students 30kr ($6)

Denmark's currency is not the Euro. However even though it is possible to use the Euro it will be at a poor exchange rate.
