Ardgillan Castle

Ardgillan castle is a famous regional park from Drogheda, Dublin, Ireland.
This castle was built in 1738 by Rev. Robert Tailor and is a fine country-manor which is surrounded by 80 hectares of gardens and woodlands. The castle is located at 30 km from Dublin and it overlooks the sea in a magnificent way. A permanent exhibition of 17th century “Down Survey” maps of Ireland is housed here. A fine Victorian conservatory and rose garden are contained by the garden. One of the features of the Walled Garden is a unique 20 alcove fruit wall. The walled Garden also includes sections for vegetables, herbs and Irish plants.
The Ardigillan Castle has a lot of facilities like parking, toilets, guided tours, wheelchair access and tea room. The park is opened from 11 am to 5 pm between 1st October to 31st March and from 11am to 6 pm between 1st April to 31st August. The fee for adults is 6,50 Euros, for students 5 Euros, and the families of two adults and two children have to pay 15 Euros. Groups have a discount too, every member of a group must pay 5 Euros.
By bus, tourists have to take bus no. 33 from Eden Quay station from Dublin, via Rush and Skerries. The train must be taken from Connolly station, Dublin to Balbriggan. From Balbriggan tourists must make a four km pleasant walk.
