Situated within the Polly Rosenbaum Building at 1502 West Washington Street in central Phoenix, Arizona, the Arizona Mining & Mineral Museum has been showing visitors the brilliance and incredible properties of the many minerals removed from state mines. The museum is quite important given Arizona's status as the nation's leading mine developer, and in fact the Arizona Mining & Mineral Museum can trace itself all the way back to the original Arizona Fairs of the 1880s. The museum was set up as a joint public-private venture in its current, official form as of the 1970s, and in 1991 the museum moved to its present premises.

The museum includes over 3,000 different mineral, rock and fossil samples taken from Arizona mines over the years, and the collection is among the finest in the world. There is even a sample of rock taken during the first successful mission to the Moon, as well as meteorite fragments. The caliber of the displays is so high that some 23,000 school children as well as many other thousands of visitors check out the Arizona Mining & Mineral Museum every year. The hours of operation are 8am-5pm Monday through Friday and 11am-4pm on Saturday, with the cost of admission set at $2 for adults and free of charge for children.
