First opened in 2004, the museum is divided into three permanent collections. The Danish 'golden age' 1770-1900, Danish modernism 1900-1960 and contemporary art. The museum also has exhibitions inspired by many famous artists. Pop artists that have been on display include Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Opening times are Tuesday to Sunday from 10am - 17:00. Wednesday from 10am - 22:00. On Mondays the museum is closed. Admission: Adults 90DKK. Children under 18 years of age go free. Senior citizens and students 75DKK. Even though Denmark is a populated city, the landscape of the country is hilly with forests and meadows. In Aarhus tourists and residents alike can escape to the forests that reach within a kilometre of the city centre. In most cases some areas are completely surrounded by the forest providing the necessary escape from the hustle of city life. Getting around Aarhus is quite easy. As well as the usual form of transport from the bus and train lines, there is also the option of getting around town with the Aarhus City Bikes. The bikes are free to use for residents and tourists. The only charge is a 20 kroner coin which will release the bike from one of the 57 city bike parking racks that are around the city.
