First opened in 1968 to the public, the Art House in Bielefeld in Germany is a museum that displays exhibitions on international art of the 20th century.

The museum was built by New York architect and art historian Philip Johnson in the shape of a pink sandstone cube and plays host to a permanent collection of Expressionism.

Artists that are present include Heckel, Beckmann, Nolde, Schmidt-Rottluff and Kirchner. Exhibitions also include art on Cubist sculptures by Max Ernst, Georg Baselitz, Man Ray and Anselm Kiefer.

Each year, the museum hosts four different exhibitions on classic Modernism, Expressionism, contemporary art and photography. Every year, these exhibitions attract millions of people who delight at art pieces from Picasso, Matisse, Caspar David Friedrich, Kasimir Malewitsch and Donald Judd.
