Artesa Winery is a new winery in the Napa Valley. The facility, with its stunning architecture, opened in 1991. At first, Codorniu Napa, as it was then called, specialized only in method champenoise sparkling wine production. Today, however, the winery has shifted its focus, hence the change of name to Artesa, which means craftsman in Catalan. Still owned by the Codorniu Group, which has a long and varied history in the wine making business, Artesa is dedicated to making a small amount of ultra premium still wines; a sampling includes, 2007 Chardonnay, Carneros, 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, Napa Valley, and 2006 Albarino, Carneros Estate. The vineyard can be toured and there are wine and food pairings offered as well.
