Artigas gardens

The Artigas Gardens were built between 1905 and 1906 and are located in Lillet, Barcelona, Spain.
The garden is designed for visitors, with a path highlighting several places of interests: La Glorieta, which function as an overlook because is situated in a higher location; La Cova. This is the original site of the Font de la Magnesia and one of its most common construction elements are the catenary arches, thing which is specific for the architect Antoni Gaudi which designed the gardens; La Cascada. This is a stone fountain built in the shape of a typical Gaudi “trencadis” and is decorated with plats motifs of steel reinforced concrete; At the side of the Arch Bridge is located “El Berenador”. This has two human forms, a male and a female. Also on the Glorieta path are featured the forms of entwined snakes made of conglomerate.
The gardens are filled with Christian symbols took from the four gospels. In the form of a cross are located four images representing the Angel of Saint Mathew at La Cascada, the eagle of Saint john at the Coix arch bridge, the lion of Saint Mark La Pergola and the bull of Saint Luke at the bull fountain.
For reaching the Artigas gardens, the most convenient means of public transport are the bus and the train from Barcelona.
