Aston Science Park is one of the first science parks and is located in Birmingham city center, United Kingdom.
This park is placed in the heart of the city and is managed by Birmingham Technologies Limited. An interesting fact is that The Digbeth Branch Canal runs through it. It was founded in 1983 by the Birmingham City Council, Lloyds Bank and Aston University and now is acknowledged as a leading innovator in Science Parks developments through the world. It lies on an attractively landscape 65 acre campus which is shared with its neighbour and partner Aston University, the park itself occupying just 22 acres. Here work 1400 employees from 110 companies. Today, Aston Science Park is set to become Birmingham’s new “digital district” due to the new council’s plans to install a next-generation high speed broadband which will provide speeds up to 100 mb per second.
At Aston Science Park are not just IT companies but pharmaceuticals and photonics, too.
The park can be reached using Birmingham’s public transport system, walking and cycling.
