The Bass and Flinders Centre provides a unique insight in to the region's maritime history, and the George Town Watch House provides a detailed look into George Town's history as a convict settlement. Situated in the Tamar Valley, the region is renowned for its gourmet food and wine. There are a number of cottages, B&Bs, hotels and motels in the regions. Only 50 kilometres from Launceston, the region is not too far from the Launceston Airport and the Spirit of Tasmania ferry terminal in Devonport.
