The Ataraxia Mountain Vineyards is located in the Hermel-en-Aarde Valley of Hermanus, South Africa. It is owned and operated by Kevin Grant, a biologist who turned winemaker and had previously worked for a decade at Hamilton Russell, a neighboring vineyard and winery.

The Ataraxia Mountain Vineyards is situated on 47 hectares of rich land ideal for grapes – Kevin Grant ensured that this so by conducting numerous soil tests and detailed analyses before purchasing the property in Walker Bay.

The vineyard and winery had its maiden harvest in 2005. Since then, under the perfectionist creation and management of Grant, the winery has become successful and is home to the ultimate South African vin de terroir. Under the label “Ataraxia”, Ataraxia Mountain Vineyards sells four wines – Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, Pinot noir, and a red blend.

The Ataraxia Mountain Vineyards is located quite close to other wineries in the Walker Bay route. Visitors may find accommodation in nearby hotels and lodging houses such as the Olive Tree Country House, 138 Marine Beachfront Guesthouse, and the Arabella Western Cape Hotel & Spa.
