Auchentoshan Distillery, which is situated in western Scotland, manufactures Single Malt whiskies. There are currently, only three distilleries operational in the Lowlands of Scotland, namely Glenkinchie, Bladnoch and Auchentoshan. The Auchentoshan distillery is located on the borders of Clydebank, Dumbartonshire. It is positioned right at the centre of Glasgow, running along the river at the base of Old Kilpatrick, Hill. Normally, Scottish distilleries do not practice triple distillation but the Auchentoshan distillery is an exception. Through triple distillation, the manufacturer after performing the first two stages of distillation of the mash in two separate copper stills goes on for a third distillation in another still, thus taking the alcoholic strength of the product to 82% ABV. This develops a delicate flavor in the Auchentoshan whisky which is absent in other Scottish whiskies. Thus, this brand of whisky is much more desirable than the others. The Auchentoshan distillery periodically releases special bottles like a 50 years old bottle distilled in 1957 which was sold in 2008. This is one of the main tourist attractions in the region. The Auchentoshan distillery boasts of conference halls and a visitor center, which is operational since 2005 and is accessible to the common public. The region near the Auchentoshan distillery houses plenty of good accommodations. Express by Holiday Inn is one such hotel that is within walking distance. It provides airport trolleys, walkway access and fully air-conditioned rooms for its guests.
