Auckland Town Hall was opened in 1911 with architects JJ & E. Clarke and underwent a $33 million restoration in 1997. During the restoration, the Edward Baroque design was maintained and the original Proscenium Arch of the Concert Chamber was rediscovered as well as the stained-glass windows. It is located in the main street of Auckland City, New Zealand known for its uses as a theatre and for administrative functions as Council meetings and hearings.

The town hall and its surrounding context are highly protected as a “Category A” heritage place in the city’s district plan. It is one of the major town halls in the country.

The Town Hall features “The Great Hall” and “The Concert Chamber”. The Great Hall is the centerpiece of Auckland Town Hall and seats 1529 people in a theatre style, with three levels, with a permanent concert platform. It is a popular choice for rock concerts. The Concert Chamber is a venue for all music performances and known for its acoustics and performances by Auckland’s finest musicians. It seats 431 patrons over two levels.
