Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, the Auditorium Building is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks and one of its most historic structures. With address at 430 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, the Auditorium Building is both a National Historic Landmark (as of 1975) and a Chicago Landmark (as of 1976).

The auditorium is the most recognizable work of famed architects Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan. Originally, the building was dedicated as the home venue of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra until it moved elsewhere in 1904. The building was officially dedicated by President Benjamin Harrison in December of 1889, though the previous year had seen the Republican National Convention be held in a partially finished wing of the building.
