More than just a meeting place in Austin, The Neal Kocurek Memorial Austin Convention Center hosts a number of events and is also the home of Austin's basketball team, The Toros. The plans for the building were drafted in 1983, when Austin realized it needed a larger space to host conventions because the current building, Palmer Auditorium, was simply too small.

The Austin Convention Center plays a part in most of the city's big events, including The South by Southwest Film Festival. The building itself spans over six city blocks, provides more than enough space for meetings, and is fully equipped for the 20th century, with the capacity to support wireless internet for thousands. Additionally, the building is actually registered with The United States Green Building Council and is making an effort to be environmentally friendly while offering its services.

Depending on what's on, the hours for The Austin Convention Center vary.
