Housed within the former estate of Texas legend Clara Driscoll, the Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria was founded in 1961, and has since served as the principal art museum of both the city of Austin specifically, and of central Texas in general. Today the Austin Museum of Art (AMOA) is split into two facilities, with its central exhibition space located at 823 Congress Avenue, referred to as AMOA – Downtown, and AMOA Laguna Gloria serving as home to The Art School, as well as a space for more intimate exhibitions, community gatherings, and private parties. AMOA Laguna Gloria is listed on the national registries of historic places, and visitors can tour the Italianate-style villa, walk the 12-acre grounds next to Lake Austin, view exhibits, and attend art-focused discussions and seminars.

The Austin Museum of Art at Gloria Laguna is located at 3809 West 35th Street in Austin, west of MoPac. Local hotel accommodations include the 1110 Carriage House Inn, Bed & Breakfast Spa Austin, and Austin Hyde Park Inn. The villa is open Tuesday and Wednesday from Noon until 4 P.M., and Thursday through Sunday from 10 A.M. until 4 P.M. The grounds are open from 9 A.M. until 5 P.M. Monday through Friday, and 10 A.M. until 5 P.M. on Sunday, with weekend public tours beginning at 1 P.M. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $3.
