The waterfall suspended radon containing water with medical properties over the town. At the beginning of the 20th century, taking a cure in Bad Gastein was a luxury holiday. By 1900, enormous luxurious hotels in the style of the historicist era could be found in the center of the city, but now the splendid hotels are not used anymore.

Today, the city is famous for year-round tourist season: Bad Gasteinoffers innumerable opportunities for hiking during the summer. The spa area has outdoor and indoor steaming pools which were blasted into the rocks. In bad Hofgastein, a town further from Bad Gastein, tourists will find more thermal spas, like the”Alpen Therme Gastein”. This one is affiliated with “Felsentherme” from Bad Gastein in a marketing network called “Thermenregion Salzburg”.

Bad Gastein has a train station which is just three kilometers away from the spas facilities. The town has a light traffic and the busses are always on the right time in the stations. The town has also cable transport facilities, so the transportation should not be a problem here.
