The castle, which was also built by the Moors, offers an amazing panoramic view of the town, fortifications and countryside.

After the delights of the outside, visitors should turn to the Badajoz Museum of Contemporary Art. Opened in July 2007, the museum is the only one in Portugal that exhibits contemporary Portuguese art exclusively.

The museum houses a permanent exhibition of more than 300 pieces by 40 national artists. Artists that visitors can find present include Adriana Molder and André Gomes. Visitors can also appreciate a collection from António Cachola, a local collector, who provides an exclusive collection of sculptures, decorations, photography and painting at the museum.
