The Bahrain National Museum is one of the oldest and by far the largest museum in Bahrain. Also called as the National Museum of Bahrain, it is located close to the King Faisal Highway in the city of Manama and is administered as a non-profit, scientific and educational organization by the Museums, Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and Information.

The museum houses a huge and rich collection of the country’s precious ancient archaeological artifacts that were discovered in as early as 1988. The Bahrain National Museum is known to cover 6,000 years of the country’s history.

The complex, which is estimated to cost at around 30 million USD, includes two halls depicting the lifestyle and culture of Bahrain’s pre-industrial past and three other halls devoted to the ancient civilization of Dilmun, an important land during the Indus Valley and Mesopotamia civilization trade route.

The museum is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and Tuesdays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays. The Bahrain National Museum is closed on Mondays.
