The St. Muredach's Cathedral is the church of the Killala Diocese. It’s construction began in 1827 with stoned being carried up the Moy and quarried locally. It was completed nearly fifty years later.

Don’t forget to visit the ruins of the Augustinian Abbey adjoining to the grounds of St. Muredach’s Cathedral and constructed in 1427. Of the Abbey what remains is the lovely arched doorway. The monastery was active until the dissolution passed by Elizabeth I.But the Augustinians continued to live there.
