The Ballysadare Church (sometimes spelt Ballisodare) in county Sligo Ireland was built on the site of a monastery founded by St Feichin of Fore in around the seventh century. The Church dates back to the 1200s and has an arched doorway depicting heads that is covered by a hooded moulding. The capitals have worn sculptures of imaginary creatures. The church sits at the head of Ballisodare Bay, four miles from Sligo town. It is accessible via the N69 and N4 motorways, and Sligo Airport, some five miles away. There are also rail connections between Sligo and Dublin.

Sligo is the county town of Sligo County, situated on the Gavarogue River. There has been some new development along the river banks which make the area more visitor friendly. The town has a quay, and is most famous for its contacts with WB Yeats the writer, a statue of whom stands outside the Ulster Bank. Other attractions include the Famine Memorial at the quays, which depicts the potato famine that killed thousands of Irish people, Sligo Abbey, the courthouse and the Cathedral.
