The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore (previously known as the Baltimore Zoo) is located in downton Baltimore, in the green and peaceful surroundings of the Druid Hill Park. The institution is accredited by the national Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and there is a total of approximately 2,000 different animals representing a wide variety of species from all over the planet. To its credit, it is the third oldest zoo in the United States, dating back to 1876.

The zoo runs several different special programs, and it is active in species conservation programs such as the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project as well as Project Golden Frog; furthermore, it is the zoo that breeds higher numbers of African black footed penguins than any other internationally.

The biggest single display area at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is titled African Journey, and there is a plethora of large and small African species that make it up. Also, there is a Giraffe Feeding Station that attracts a lot of attention.

The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is open to visitors every day of the year (except Christmas Day and Thanksgiving) from 10am-4pm. The cost of a ticket is set at $13 for adults, $11 for seniors and $9 for children 2-11 years old. Special prices can be had when purchasing tickets online.
