The Barcelona Cathedral is found in Barcelona, Spain and is one of the city's main attractions.
The architectural highlight of this beautiful Gothic cathedral is the cloister, featuring a statue of St George in the courtyard and a tranquil pool complete with the cossetted white geese who make their home here. Inside the cathedral is the nave, made up of 28 chapels and antechambers as well as the alabaster tomb of St. Eulalia, Barcelona's patron saint.
Although work on the cathedral began in the 13th century the cathedral was completed only in 1913 at which time the central spire was finished.
The cathedral is centrally located in Barcelona, with bus, metro and taxi services in abundance. If visiting in summer, it is advisable to reach the cathedral on foot, as it is conveniently positioned near the other main attraction of Barcelona - the Casa Museu Gaudi in Parc Guell where famous architect Antoni Gaudi lived in the early 20th century.
