Barigui Park is one of the most popular outdoor spots in the city of Curitiba. Featuring over 1.4 million square meters of space, Barigui Park (called Parque Barigui locally) was originally part of the colonial allotment of settler Matthew Leme. The area was transformed into a park in 1972.

Barigui Park is notable not just for its large expanses. Besides the large areas for walking and bicycle riding, the giant lake in the middle of the park is popular for rowing or seeing the local species in their natural habitat. Birding is very popular in the park. The purple-breasted parrots and large redbirds will catch the eye of any bird lover. There are also herons, skunks, tico-ticos and many more mammals roaming about in Barigui.

Besides the nature, there are grills for a Sunday afternoon barbecue, fitness equipment open to the public, tennis courts, hills and even museums. The Auto Museum was founded in 1969 and is now located inside the park. Gorgeous vintage cars sit by exhibits dedicated to the automobile. A prize 1950 Jaguar is one of the museum’s jewels, along with a 1953 Cadillac El Dorado.
