The Bathurst Regional Airport is located in northern New Brunswick, Canada. Although it’s been active in the Chaleur area since the 1960’s the Bathurst Airport’s history actually dates back to the Second World War. Returning war veterans, pilots, grouped together and purchased a piece of property at the west end of Bathurst. They resurrected a small runway and took to the skies. In the 1950’s there was a call for a new airport in the region. A new site was chosen and in July of 1961, the new airport was completed, with brand new runways, a passenger terminal building and parking lot. Today the airport services Air Canada and Nova Air flights to Montreal, among other destinations. The airport is open from 6am-9pm Monday through Friday and 10:00am-6pm on the weekends.
