he Bauhaus Museum in Weimar, Germany is a world famous school of architecture and applied arts that contains over 500 exhibits made by teachers and students.

First established in 1907 by Henry van de Velde, the arts and crafts museum features several works by the artist and his pupils. The museum also houses works by Walter Gropius, Johannes Itten, Lyonel Feininger and Marcel Breuer and maintains one of the biggest Bauhaus collections in the world.

The collection guides you through the history of Bauhaus and includes tea pots, drawings, tapestry, prints, lamps, chairs, architectural plans, tables and photographs.

Currently the museum is closed for renovation, but will reopen on the 1st of April 2010 with a new exhibition entitled The Bauhaus comes from Weimar!.

Weimar is known in Germany for its cultural heritage and is a city that dates from the year 899. The city stems from a deep history and has had many famous residents walk through the quaint cobbled streets of Weimar. Some of these residents include Anna Amalia, a German princess of the 18th century, Martin Luther, a priest and theology professor during the 15th century, Christoph Martin Wieland, a German poet and writer of the 18th century and Johann Sebastian Bach, the world renown German composer and organist of the 17th century.
