The Bavarian State Opera is located in Munich, Germany.

The Bavrian State Orchestra is the orchestra of the opera. The Bavarian State Opera has been in existence since 1653. The actual opera’s building was erected in 1811 and dominates one of the most impressive architectural ensembles in the Bavarian capital. The auditorium has open tiers rather than boxes, the all building reflecting the social changes in the early 19th century. Today everybody can seat in the Kings Lodge but the ticket for this lodge it’s quite expensive, costing between 132 and 164 Euros.

Daily guided tours are available for the tourists and give them the possibility to enjoy the building. On such a tour tourists will become acquainted by the exciting possibilities the technical installation of the stage offers as well as the auditorium’s extraordinary acoustics. 300 performances a year with approximately 2,100 visitors are put on by the Bavarian State Opera each night. Pieces by Mozart, Wagner and Strauss, as well as baroque works and contemporary operas are included in its wide-ranging repertoire. The Bavarian State Opera has the reputation of one of the leading opera houses in the world which is well deserved.

An interesting innovation is that concert and theatre tickets are valid as public transport tickets, so the tourists don’t have to pay for transportation if they have a valid ticket for opera or theatre.
