BBC Radio Bristol is a local BBC Radio that provides service for Bristol and its surrounding area, England. It was first launched in September 1970. It broadcasts on FM and AM frequencies and on DAB. BBC Radio Bristol shares many programmes with BBC Somerset during off-peak hours. BBC Radio Bristol has been left free to concentrate editorially on Bristol, Bath and the rest of the former Avon area since the BBC Somerset relaunching on FM.
The first two voices to be heard on the station were Kate Adie and Michael Buerk. Roger Bennet is a popular figure for the BBC Radio Bristol as he presented Breakfast Show, Morning West for 30 years. Susan Osman co-hosted Points West for 14 years until 2006. Some of the most important presenters are John Turner, Dave Barrett, Richard Lewis and Steve LeFevre.
