Running 1.8 miles through downtown Memphis from the Mississippi River to East Street, Beale Street is an original hub of the Blues. Its festivals and outdoor concerts fill the city with music and lights throughout the year, celebrating Memphis’ rich history.

Beale Street was created in 1841 and named for an unknown military hero of the era. It quickly became the home of many black traveling musicians and over the years grew to become one of the most significant sites of American music history. Today, it is the home of several top-notch clubs and shops, including B.B. Kings Restaurant & Blues Club, New Daisy and Club 152 on Beale. The biggest blues lovers may want to stay at one of the many hotels located on the street, including the Westin and the Hampton.
