The "Beemster Golf Vereniging" i.e. the Beemster golf club has a course with 9 holes. It has an indoor driving range, with a chipping green, a bunker and a putting green. There is also a golf simulator. The course was designed by Hans Oskam. The course is quite challenging, and uses the natural water features found in the area to great advantage. Beemster is a town in the province of North Holland in the Netherlands. The town is the first so-called "polder" in the country that was reclaimed when all the water was extracted from a local lake by windmills. This happened between 1609 and 1612. It's a well-preserved town with a grid of canals, surrounded by fields and small settlements. Beemster was declared a world heritage site in 1999 by UNESCO. The restaurant is open from Tuesdays to Sunday during summer months, and from Fridays to Sundays during winter months. The bar is open from Tuesdays to Sundays all year round. From the club house you have a great view over the whole course. Accommodation in the area is plentiful. Holiday cottages can be rented from as little as €60/night. To get to the golf course, take the N244 from Alkmaar. Then take the Middelbeemster offramp, and turn left at the stop street.
