The former summer home of Oliver Hazard Perry Belmont, the Belcourt Castle is perhaps one of the most famous residences on New Port, Rhode Island. It is located on Bellevue Avenue and its construction dates back to 1894. While the elaborate building process took over three years to complete, the home was constructed to serve solely as a summer retreat for its owners. They planned to reside in the Belcourt Castle for approximately six to eight weeks a year. The Belcourt Castle is noted for the variety of architectural styles reflected in its design, among them, French Renaissance and Gothic décor.
