The Belgrade International Airport (BEG) named after the famous inventor Nikola Tesla is comfortably situated some 12 km away from the capital Belgrade. Its two terminals operate domestic and international flights, in a combination of scheduled and chartered services. You can fly to Belgrade from any of the major cities in Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East.

The Belgrade International Airport offers all the facilities required by travellers including bank and currency exchange desks as well as ATMs. There are restaurants, bars and shops in both terminals. All the major car rental companies offer their services at the airport, but preliminary online booking is also available. Travellers need to be aware that there are no English-speaking service staff here – although knowing simple Serbian greetings and phrases will be received extremely well and can often mean the difference between a discount/great service and getting the cold shoulder.

You can take a taxi from the Belgrade International Airport to any place in the capital. The telephone numbers and web addressed of the main taxi companies operating at the airport are available on its official website. Alternatively you can take the bus line number 72 running from the airport to Zeleni venac. This service is available from 5 in the morning to midnight with the buses departing every 30 minutes. JAT Airways also operate a bus service from Belgrade International Airport to Slavija Square stopping at the central railway station every day from 7 in the morning to 10 in the evening. Travellers are strongly recommended to avoid taking a taxi. It is common practise to overcharge, and a ride that should cost no more than 2000 Dinar (around 25 Euro) can often end up costing more than 70 Euro. The best choice is the JAT bus, which will cost 200 Dinar (around 3 Euro).

There are no airport hotels available for the travellers to Belgrade, but the proximity of the Belgrade International Airport to the city allows for a greater variety of options. The Continental Hotel Beograd and the Hyatt Regency Belgrade are excellent five-star choices. The four-star Best Western M also provides comfort, while the three-star Prag offers good value for money.
