Beliche beach

Beliche beach is located 5 km northwest of Sagres, Portugal. As it is situated outside of normal walking distance from Sagres, Praia da Beliche beach is rarely overcrowded, except maybe in August.

To get to this beach visitors need to descend a long set of stone steps. A path leads about 200 meters down to the beach and one will find plenty of parking area for an automobile. The beach is about 500 m long but fairly narrow. Under most conditions the beach is ideal for relaxing body and mind. The massive cliffs have been eroded into a honeycomb of caves and coves, offering protection from the omnipresent wind, and lapped by exceptionally clear water. An attraction is the family of peregrine falcons that nests up in the cliffs. The caves also help make this beach a unique place and the waves that rise over the perfect, sheltered sands make this place a must for the surfers and body boarders who visit Sagres.

The beach is about a 10 minutes drive from Sagres town centre, in the direction of Cape St Vicente, following the EN 268 for around 3km.

The beach restaurant is serving drinks and snacks to the sounds of Reggae music.

The beach is good for surfing, kayaking but it can become tricky and hazardous if there is a direct westerly wind.
