The Teatro Massimo "Vincenzo Bellini" is the opera house in Catania, Italy.

Teatro Massimo "Bellini V.", was built by Milanese architect Carlo Sada and inaugurated in 1890 with the opera Norma by the composer Vincenzo Bellini. The facade of the theater is inspired by the classic Sansovino's Library in Venice. The hall with four tiers of boxes beyond the gallery is of great decorative richness and aristocratic taste. The ceiling is frescoed by the painter Ernesto Bellandi with images of Bellini’s greatest works: Norma, La Sonnambula, I Puritani and The pirate. The tenor Beniamino Gigli proclaimed the theater’s hall the best in the world of theater acoustics.

In a hundred years of its existence this hub of musical life in Catania has seen passing on the boards of its stage many of the best musicians of the twentieth century. They have performed almost all the masterpieces of musical theater from Mozart to Berg, as well as contemporary works, the last in order of time being The Divergence of Azio Corghi, which was the first ever performance of the original version in Italian.
