As one of the west's great towns, Carson City has no shortage of historical buildings. One of the most popular spots for visitors to take a look at is The Bender-Pozzi House, which has as much of a rich history to it as does the town itself.

One of the most beautiful residences in Carson City, The Bender-Pozzi House stands two stories tall, and boasts one of the prettiest lawns in the entire city. Beautiful trees offer shade throughout the sprawling lawn, and a large porch that wouldn't be out of place in Savannah offers the perfect vantage point to enjoy a spring day.

Built in 1866, The Bender-Pozzi House was designed to the specifications of wealthy local lawyer George Nourse, who wanted to live in a rather regal mansion over on West Robinson Street. However, the house just didn't take, and a few years later, a railroad magnate bought the house.

This railroad magnet, David Bender, worked for the V&T Railroad, and apparently was too much of a nomad for the house to hold his interest, either. He sold the house in 1901, to Ormsby County commissioner Archie Pozzi Senior. Pozzi took to the house, with it staying in his family until 1980.

Most of the occupations that built the Carson City are represented when you look at the previous owners of The Bender-Pozzi House. Now one of the most prominent historical residences in town, a number of the local preservation groups offer informative walking tours that will go even deeper into the history of the mansion itself and its owners' lives. A number of the contemporary hotels are just a short walk away, including The Hardman House and The Quality Inn Trailside.
