Previously known as the Delaware River Bridge, the Benjamin Franklin Bridge spans the Delaware River between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Camden, New Jersey. This suspension bridge is often referred to as the “Ben Franklin Bridge” by locals. The name itself pays homage to the famed early American statesman, Benjamin Franklin. The bridge was built in 1926 and at the time it was the longest suspension bridge in the entire world. Today visitors may enjoy the view from the bridge either by car or on foot, as there are pedestrian walkways on either side of the bridge. The Benjamin Franklin Bridge is operated by the Delaware River Port Authority.
