The Benjamin Franklin National Memorial is an impressive twenty foot statue honoring one of the most prolific figures of United States history. The piece was sculpted in the early 1900’s by James Earle Fraser and is located in The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The statue is made of white Seravezza marble; the pedestal and statue have a combined weight of just over 120 tons.

Benjamin Franklin was one of the United States’ founding fathers, and among many of his lifelong pursuits was an active inventor, scientist and statesman. He is most widely recognized for his discoveries in the area of electricity as well as for inventing bifocals, the lightning rod and the Franklin stove.
