The Bergpark Wilhelmshohe is a unique park located in Kassel, Germany.
The park was described by Georg Dehio, the nestor of the modern historic preservation, as “possibly the most grandiose combination of landscape and architecture that the Baroque dared anywhere”. The park has an area of 2, 4 square kilometers which makes it the largest hillside park from Europe and the second largest park on a mountain slope in the world. Today, Schloss Wilhelmshohe is a museum and houses an important collection of Graeco-Roman antiques, a world-famous wallpaper collection and a fine gallery of paintings. Masterpieces by German, Italian, French and Spanish painters comprising the second-largest collection of Rembrandts in Germany are contained in the collection. Due to its remarkable cultural value, Bergpark has been nominated as a world heritage site.
Public transport can be successfully used to get to Bergpark Wilhelmshohe. By train, tourists should get off at Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe train station. All means of public transport are situated right in front of the park.
