Just south of the campus of Lewis and Clark College, a few minutes south of downtown Portland, the Berry Botanic Garden started as the personal collection of gardener Rae Selling Berry. Today, the Garden’s mission is to continue the legacy of Ms. Berry by promoting plant species native to the Pacific Northwest, maintaining special plant collections, conserving endangered plants, and hosting educational events for the public.

Dividing its offerings into three categories, education, conservation, and horticulture, the Berry Botanic Garden is home to the Seed Bank for Rare and Endangered Plants of the Pacific Northwest, a living plant museum, and numerous educational resources, special events, and classes in sustainable gardening. In addition to its proximity to Lewis and Clark College, the Berry Botanic Garden is within easy walking distance of Tyron State Park as well as the west bank of the Willamette River.

The Berry Botanic Garden is located at 11505 Southwest Summerville Avenue in Portland. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, from 9 A.M. until 4:30 P.M., and by reservation outside of these hours. Admission is $5, with children under the age of 12, and members admitted free of charge.
