As the name hints, Best Golf is one of the best golf courses near Eindhoven in the Netherlands. The course was created by the renowned Dudok design team, and it recently went through a major upgrade program. The bunkering was substantially improved, and the layout is a masterpiece. It is an 18-hole course, with a par of 72 and a length of 6049m for men and 5187m for women. Each one of the nines has a very distinct character. The one is surrounded by mature forest, and the other one by parkland, with many water features making for a very challenging course. The 13th hole is perhaps the most challenging of all, since it is surrounded by trees on all sides. The variety of this course is in itself something unique. There is a golf shop, a club house with a bar and the Le Bouquet restaurant, where you can have anything from a light lunch to a steak. The town of Eindhoven was founded in 1232 by Duke Hendrik of Brabant. It has a population of 210 000 (2006), of which about 25% are from foreign descent (mostly Turks and Moroccans). From April to September many festivals and carnivals take place in the city, including Folkwoods, a folk festival that takes place in August every year. Restaurants range from the normal international food chains to world class restaurants. Budget hotels start at about 20 Euros per night. Mid-range hotels cost in the region of 30 Euros per night, and a luxury hotel will set you back 100 Euros or more. Eindhoven is a transport hub, and there are direct trains to e.g. Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. Eindhoven airport is 8km from the town center, and is the second busies airport in the country.
